C is for Courage
I, like many of you, was introduced to the concept of courage by the Cowardly Lion on The Wizard of Oz/The Wiz. The Lion on the outside looked mean, ferocious, big, and strong, but what we later learned was that he was scared, weak, and sought courage from a magical wizard.
Courage is the strength and power to take on the most challenging, difficult, painful, intimidating and almost impossible circumstances head on without letting those pesky "what ifs" and doubts get in the way. Some of us, including myself are like the Cowardly Lion, in need of courage to face the many roads and trials that life sends us on.
As women, we have to face the concept of courage almost everyday. The courage to be flawed in a world that praises, we need courage to go after our dreams and to demand being an equal in a male dominated world, we need to find the courage within ourselves to have an understanding of who we are and who we want to be. That isn't an easy task.
Right now, as I type this I find myself in need of courage. I needed to tell myself that it's ok to share my life experiences with people in hopes that they will find comfort. I needed to tell myself that it's ok to not know the exact words, to listen to my heart and type. I also found myself needing the courage to let love into my life again. I had to tell myself that the past scars are now scabbed and that I should be brave enough to let a beautiful man love me with his whole being.
We need to be courageous in order to unlock our fullest potential in life.
Just like the many ups and downs leading the Cowardly Lion to find courage in OZ, we have to be courageous and brave to face our lives, our dreams, ourselves.
So how does one find courage? There is no magic potion or pill that will bestow it upon you, it's already within us. You just have to tap into it.
You wanna be courageous? Be yourself and own who you are regardless of what people think. Be courageous and go after your biggest dream, speak your mind loudly when the world wants you to be silent, say no to the people, places, and things that are dead weight and stopping you from flying free. Be courageous and love yourself and allow someone to love you. we all need the courage to just let things go.
There's no ruby slippers, yellow brick roads, or good witches that can help you find courage, Courage is a God-Given gift and you have the right to show it and to own it. Don't be afraid to live the life that you want and that you deserve.
When you believe in your courage, you'll find home.
